Best Universities in the USA: It’s generally a good idea to do some research first as the institution or college you decide to attend can have a significant impact on the rest of your life. They have created a rating of the top 100 US institutions and colleges in accordance with the just-released QS World University Rankings 2023 to aid in the process.

3. Harvard University

4. The University of Chicago

The official certificate of incorporation for the University of Chicago was issued by the state of Illinois in September 1890, marking the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the university. Oil tycoon John D. Rockefeller’s $600,000 donation and Marshall Field, proprietor of a nearby department store, both contributed to the university’s establishment. The university’s first president envisioned a modern research university dedicated to equal chances and non-sectarianism as a “bran ly new” institution that was “as sturdy as the old hills.”

5. Columbia University

The oldest university in the state of New York and one of the oldest in the United States, Columbia was established in 1754 as King’s College by the Royal Charter of King George II of England. The Low Memorial Library, which was constructed in the Roman Classical style and currently contains the university’s core administrative offices, is the area’s most recognizable structure. Columbia University has two locations outside of Manhattan in addition to its main campus on Broadway in the center of New York City: the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in Palisades, New York, and Nevis Laboratories, a center for the study of high-energy experimental particle and nuclear physics in Irvington, New York.

6. Stanford University

It was established in 1885 and initiate as a private, non-denominational co-educational university 6 years later.

It sits in the heart of California’s Silicon Valley, less than an hour’s drive south of San Francisco, right close to Palo Alto, and the university is renowned for its entrepreneurial culture.

The university had a linear accelerator by 1970, and it also hosted a portion of the early network that would later serve as the internet’s technical backbone.

7. University of Pennsylvania

In 1740, the University of Pennsylvania was established as a private university. The campus is 299 acres in size, it is located in an urban area, and there are 9,962 undergraduate students enrolled in total (fall 2021). It makes use of an academic calendar based on semesters. The University of Pennsylvania is ranked #7 in National Universities in the Best Colleges edition for 2022–2023. The cost of tuition and fees is $63,452.

One of the oldest universities in the US is Princeton University. It is a member of the esteemed Ivy League colleges.

9. Columbia University

There are 28 Greek chapters among the many student activities offered by Columbia. 90% of students reside on campus. Union Theological Seminary, the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, and Barnard College for Women are all linked with Columbia. John Jay, a founding father and the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, as well as former President Barack Obama, are notable alumni. The Pulitzer Prizes are managed by Columbia as well.

10. New York University

There are more than 300 student organizations on campus, including WNYU, a student radio station that streams online and plays programming for the university community on a nearby FM channel.
